This make up brush set puts 13 makeup brushes for your whole face in one soft drawstring pouch: five fluffy face brushes for foundation, loose powder, contour, bronzer and highlighter, and eight slim eye and lip brushes for eyeshadow, blending, concealer and fine details. The soft synthetic bristles pick up powder, cream and liquid make-up, so this brush kit suits beginners building a first routine as well as anyone replacing a few worn-out brushes.

Every brush has its own job, which makes a full face simple. The face brushes are about 19 cm (7.5 in) long, with big rounded, flat and angled heads for foundation, setting powder, blusher, bronzer and contour, plus one two-tone brush for highlighter. The eye brushes are about 15 cm (5.9 in) long: flat shaders lay eyeshadow on the lid, tapered brushes blend the crease, and small pointed and angled tips cover concealer, lips, under-eye colour and liner. Wash the bristles with mild soap and lukewarm water and let them dry lying flat.

It is a thoughtful Christmas, birthday or Secret Santa gift for her, for a teenager starting make-up or a university student. The brushes stand in the pouch on a dressing table, a desk or by the bathroom sink, and the pouch slips into a weekend bag or hand luggage. Which brush is for what?

The 5 larger brushes are for the face: foundation, loose powder, contour, bronzer or blush, and highlighter (the two-tone brush). The 8 smaller ones are for the eyes and lips: flat shaders lay down eyeshadow, tapered brushes blend the crease, plus concealer, under-eye, lip and fine detail brushes.

Are the bristles synthetic?

Yes. All 13 brushes have soft synthetic fiber bristles and plastic handles. They work with powder, cream and liquid makeup.

How do I clean the brushes?

Wet the bristles with lukewarm water, swirl them on a drop of mild soap, rinse until the water runs clear, gently squeeze out the water and let them dry lying flat.

Is makeup or a sponge included?

No. You get the 13 brushes and the drawstring pouch. The makeup in the photos only shows how the brushes are used.
