Description

Press fresh tortillas at home without a rolling pin. This manual tortilla press is made of cast aluminum alloy: put a ball of masa or flour dough between the two round plates, pull the lever down, and lift out an even, round tortilla. It works for corn and flour tortillas, and also for empanada and dumpling wrappers, roti and flatbreads.

The long curved lever gives you leverage, so pressing takes little effort and every round comes out about the same thickness. The plates are hinged at the back and the lever is pinned at the front, so the press opens wide for loading and closes flat. A small hanging loop on the handle side lets you store it on a hook. There is no electric part and nothing to plug in, so you can use it at the counter, at the table or outdoors.

Choose the size that fits your cooking: the 6.3 inch (16 cm) press suits tacos, small tortillas and wrappers, and the 7.9 inch (20 cm) press makes larger rounds for burritos and quesadillas. Pick plain silver aluminum or a black speckled finish. Line the plates with parchment or a plastic bag cut to size if your dough is sticky. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry it after use; hand washing is recommended.

Why it happens

Rolling tortillas by hand is slow and uneven

Masa and flour dough spring back under a rolling pin, so rounds end up thick in one spot and thin in another.

Dough springs backIt shrinks after each pass of the rolling pin.

FAQ

Questions before you buy

Can't find your answer? Contact us - we reply within 24-48 hours.

Can I press corn and flour tortillas?

Yes. Place a ball of masa or flour dough between the plates and pull the lever. It also presses empanada wrappers, roti and flatbread dough.

Will the dough stick to the plates?

Soft or sticky dough can. Line the plates with parchment paper or a cut plastic bag before pressing, then peel the round off.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it with a damp cloth, then dry it right away. Hand washing is recommended; do not put it in the dishwasher.
