Description

Three classic board games in one wooden case. This folding chess set opens flat to a numbered, lettered 8x8 chess board with 32 turned wooden pieces: 16 in natural light wood and 16 in a dark brown stain. Flip the board over and the same box gives you checkers (draughts) and backgammon, so one set covers a whole evening of family board games.

The board folds in half and closes with a small metal latch. Inside, the chess pieces and the checker and backgammon discs have their own compartments, so nothing gets lost between games. Closed, it is a flat wooden box that slides onto a shelf, into a cupboard or into a bag for a weekend away. The playing surface has a burl-wood and light maple checkered finish, and the pieces are weighted enough to stand firmly on the squares.

It suits beginners learning how the pieces move as well as regular players who want a tidy set for the coffee table. Pick the size that fits your space, from a compact 9.25 inch board for travel to a roomy 18.5 inch board for the dining table. A simple wooden game like this is an easy way to get everyone away from their screens for an hour. Small parts: keep away from young children.

  • Games: chess, checkers (draughts) and backgammon
  • Material: wood board and wooden pieces
  • Pieces: 32 chess pieces, plus checker and backgammon discs
  • Board sizes: 9.25, 11.4, 13.4, 15.4 or 18.5 inches square
  • Closure: metal latch, folds flat with storage inside
