Description

This paint by numbers for adults kit turns a 16 x 20 inch (40 x 50 cm) linen canvas into a palm tree sunset painting you make yourself, one numbered area at a time. Every shape on the canvas is outlined in light grey and marked with a small number that matches a numbered pot of acrylic paint, so there is nothing to draw and no colors to mix. It is a DIY paint by numbers project for beginners who have never painted and a calm, screen-free hobby for adults.

The kit has everything to finish the painting: the printed paint by number canvas, a set of numbered acrylic paint pots, three nylon brushes in different sizes, a color guide sheet with the finished design and two hanging hooks. Start with the large sky areas in pink, coral and lilac, then work down to the palm trees and the road. Acrylic paint dries quickly, and light colors may need a second coat to cover the printed numbers.

Choose No frame (the canvas ships folded) or DIY frame, which adds four wooden stretcher bars and tacks so you can mount the canvas yourself and hang it right away. As a painting kit for adults, it is a thoughtful birthday, Christmas or Mother's Day gift, a date night or girls' night activity, and wall art for a living room, bedroom or home office. It is not a toy for children: the small paint pots and tacks are made for adult hands.

Why it happens

A blank canvas is hard to start

Without drawing practice it's hard to know where to begin: the sketch goes wrong, mixed colors turn muddy, and the canvas stays blank.

Drawing firstSketching the outline takes practice.
Mixing colorsGetting the right shade by eye is tricky.
No first stepA blank canvas doesn't tell you where to begin.

FAQ

Questions before you buy

Can't find your answer? Contact us -- we reply within 24-48 hours.

Do I need painting experience?

No. Every area on the canvas has a number that matches a paint pot, so you only fill in shapes. Start with the larger areas and keep the smallest brush for details.

Will the numbers show through?

Light colors can let some printed numbers show. Let the first coat dry, then add a second coat on those areas.

No frame or DIY frame: what's the difference?

No frame: the canvas ships folded, without a frame, ready to frame later. DIY frame: adds four wooden stretcher bars and tacks. Push the corners together, pin the canvas around the frame and hang it with the included hooks.

How long does it take?

It depends on your pace. Plan for several sessions over evenings or weekends; acrylic paint dries quickly in between. Close the pots tightly so the paint stays fresh.

Will the canvas have creases?

The canvas ships folded, so light creases can show at first. They usually relax once the canvas is stretched on a frame, or you can iron the back on low heat with a cloth in between.
